Vincas Kudirka
Vincas Kudirka was a prominent Lithuanian writer, physician, and public figure born on December 31, 1858, in the village of Skuodas. He is best known for his contributions to Lithuanian literature and his role in the national revival movement. Kudirka wrote poetry, essays, and plays, advocating for the Lithuanian language and culture during a time of foreign domination.
In addition to his literary work, Kudirka composed the music and lyrics for the Lithuanian national anthem, Tautiška giesmė. His efforts significantly influenced the development of Lithuanian national identity. Kudirka passed away on September 16, 1899, but remains a celebrated figure in Lithuania's history.
