Korean independence movement
The Korean independence movement refers to the efforts by Koreans to gain independence from Japanese colonial rule, which lasted from 1910 to 1945. This movement included various forms of resistance, such as protests, cultural preservation, and armed struggle. Key events, like the March 1st Movement in 1919, mobilized widespread support for independence and highlighted the desire for national sovereignty.
Throughout the years, many organizations and figures emerged to lead the movement, including the Korean Provisional Government and activists like Ahn Chang-ho and Kim Gu. The movement gained international attention, especially during and after World War II, ultimately contributing to Korea's liberation in 1945.
