King Ping of Zhou
King Ping of Zhou was the 14th king of the Zhou Dynasty in ancient China, ruling from approximately 770 to 720 BCE. He is known for moving the capital from Zhou to Luoyang, which marked the beginning of the Eastern Zhou period. This shift was significant as it allowed the Zhou to maintain power amid increasing threats from neighboring states.
During his reign, King Ping faced challenges from various feudal lords and internal strife. His rule is often seen as a time of decline for the Zhou Dynasty, as the central authority weakened and local powers began to rise, leading to the eventual fragmentation of the dynasty.
