King Milan I of Serbia
King Milan I of Serbia was born on August 22, 1854, and became the ruler of Serbia in 1882. He was the first king of the modern Serbian state, transitioning from a principality to a kingdom. His reign saw significant political and military developments, including the expansion of Serbian territory after the Serbo-Turkish War.
Milan's rule was marked by efforts to modernize Serbia and strengthen its military. However, his reign faced challenges, including political opposition and economic difficulties. He abdicated in 1889 in favor of his son, King Alexander I, and spent his later years in exile before returning to Serbia.
