King Louis VI of France
King Louis VI of France, also known as Louis the Fat, ruled from 1108 to 1137. He was the first king of the Capetian dynasty to effectively consolidate royal power in France. His reign marked the beginning of a stronger centralized monarchy, as he worked to reduce the influence of powerful nobles and expand royal authority.
Louis VI was known for his military campaigns against rebellious lords and his efforts to improve the administration of his kingdom. He also supported the growth of towns and trade, which contributed to the economic development of France during the early Middle Ages.
