King Kamehameha IV
King Kamehameha IV, born Alexander Liholiho in 1834, was the fourth monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom. He ascended to the throne in 1855 and ruled until his death in 1863. Kamehameha IV is known for his efforts to modernize Hawaii and improve the welfare of its people, including the establishment of the Queen's Medical Center.
During his reign, Kamehameha IV focused on education and health care, promoting the well-being of his subjects. He and his wife, Queen Emma, were also instrumental in the founding of St. Andrew's Cathedral in Honolulu. His legacy includes a commitment to the preservation of Hawaiian culture and identity.
