King John III
King John III was a monarch of Portugal who reigned from 1656 to 1683. He was born on March 7, 1604, and was the son of King John IV. His reign is noted for the consolidation of the Portuguese Empire and efforts to strengthen the economy after the Restoration War against Spain.
During his time as king, John III focused on expanding trade and improving relations with other countries. He also supported the arts and sciences, contributing to the cultural development of Portugal. His reign ended with his death on November 17, 1683, and he was succeeded by his son, Peter II.
