Khilafat Committee
The Khilafat Committee was established in 1919 in India to support the Ottoman Empire, which was facing disintegration after World War I. The committee aimed to protect the Khilafat, the Islamic caliphate, and mobilized Indian Muslims to advocate for its preservation. It sought to unite Muslims across the subcontinent in a common cause, emphasizing the importance of the caliphate in Islamic governance.
The committee was led by prominent leaders such as Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Shaukat Ali, and Mohammad Ali. It played a significant role in the broader Indian independence movement by fostering Hindu-Muslim unity through the Khilafat Movement, which sought to address grievances against British colonial rule.
