Khangchendzonga National Park
Khangchendzonga National Park is located in the northeastern part of India, primarily in the state of Sikkim. Established in 1977, it covers an area of approximately 850 square kilometers and is named after Khangchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world. The park is recognized for its rich biodiversity, featuring a variety of flora and fauna, including several endangered species.
The park is part of the Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016. It is home to numerous glaciers, alpine meadows, and deep valleys, making it a popular destination for trekkers and nature enthusiasts. The park also holds cultural significance for the local Lepcha and Bhutia communities.
