Karthigai
Karthigai is a traditional festival celebrated primarily in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It usually falls in the month of Karthigai, which corresponds to November-December in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is dedicated to the worship of Lord Murugan, the son of Shiva and Parvati, and is marked by the lighting of oil lamps, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness.
During Karthigai, families decorate their homes with clay lamps and offer prayers to deities. The festival also includes the preparation of special dishes, such as Karthigai Pori and Karthigai Adai. It is a time for community gatherings, sharing joy, and reinforcing cultural traditions.
