Kagyu
Kagyu is one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism, known for its emphasis on meditation and the direct experience of enlightenment. Founded in the 11th century by the Indian master Marpa and his student Milarepa, it focuses on the transmission of teachings through a lineage of teachers.
The Kagyu school is characterized by its unique practices, including the Mahamudra meditation technique, which aims to realize the nature of the mind. It also values the importance of oral transmission and personal guidance from a qualified teacher, fostering a deep connection between students and their instructors.
