John, Duke of Berry
John, Duke of Berry (1340-1416), was a prominent French nobleman and a member of the royal family. He was the son of John II of France and played a significant role in the politics of the Hundred Years' War. John was known for his patronage of the arts, particularly in the commissioning of illuminated manuscripts.
As a duke, John governed the regions of Berry and Auvergne. He was involved in various military campaigns and was a key figure in the internal conflicts of France during his lifetime. His legacy includes the famous Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, a masterpiece of medieval art.
