Charles, Duke of Berry
Charles, Duke of Berry (1686-1714), was a French nobleman and member of the royal family. He was the son of Louis, Grand Dauphin and Maria Anna of Bavaria, making him a grandson of King Louis XIV of France. Charles was known for his involvement in the arts and his patronage of various cultural projects during his lifetime.
Despite his noble status, Charles struggled with health issues and died young at the age of 27. His death contributed to the ongoing complexities of the French royal succession, as he was a potential heir to the throne. His legacy is often overshadowed by the more prominent figures in his family.
