Johann Balthasar Neumann
Johann Balthasar Neumann (1687-1753) was a prominent German architect and engineer known for his contributions to the Baroque style of architecture. He is best recognized for his work on the Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which showcases his innovative use of space and light. Neumann's designs often featured grand staircases and elaborate ceilings, reflecting the opulence of the period.
In addition to the Würzburg Residence, Neumann designed several other important buildings, including the Basilica of the Fourteen Holy Helpers and the Church of St. John Nepomuk in Zirndorf. His architectural style combined elements of Rococo and Baroque, influencing many architects in Germany and beyond.
