Joash of Judah
Joash of Judah was a king who reigned in the ancient kingdom of Judah during the 9th century BCE. He became king at a young age, around seven years old, after being hidden from Queen Athaliah, who sought to kill all royal heirs. Joash was guided by the high priest Jehoiada, who helped him restore the worship of Yahweh and repair the Temple of Solomon.
During his reign, Joash initiated significant religious reforms and focused on restoring the temple, which had fallen into disrepair. He collected funds from the people to support the temple's restoration and removed pagan worship practices. However, after the death of Jehoiada, Joash turned away from these reforms, leading to his eventual downfall and assassination.
