Joanna I of Naples
Joanna I of Naples was a queen who ruled from 1343 to 1382. She was born in 1328 and became the first female monarch of the Kingdom of Naples. Joanna inherited the throne after the death of her grandfather, Robert of Anjou, and faced numerous challenges, including political conflicts and rival claims to her crown.
Throughout her reign, Joanna was known for her strong personality and political acumen. She navigated complex alliances and conflicts, including wars with Pope Urban VI and the House of Anjou. Despite her efforts, her reign ended in controversy, and she was ultimately imprisoned and killed in 1382.
