Japanese kendo
Japanese kendo is a modern martial art that focuses on swordsmanship using bamboo swords called shinai. Practitioners, known as kendoka, wear protective gear, including a helmet called men and a chest protector called do. Kendo emphasizes discipline, respect, and mental focus, making it both a physical and philosophical practice.
The sport originated from traditional samurai sword-fighting techniques and has evolved into a competitive activity. Kendo matches are held in a dojo, where participants score points by striking designated target areas on their opponent's body. The practice fosters physical fitness, self-control, and a sense of community among practitioners.
