Japanese Imperial History
Japanese Imperial History spans over a millennium, beginning with the establishment of the Yamato dynasty in the 7th century. The emperor was seen as a divine figure, with the role becoming symbolic over time. The Heian period (794-1185) marked a flourishing of culture and arts, while the samurai class rose to power during the Kamakura period (1185-1333).
In the late 19th century, Japan underwent the Meiji Restoration, transforming into a modern state and expanding its empire. The Showa era (1926-1989) saw Japan's militarization and involvement in World War II. After the war, the emperor's role shifted to a constitutional monarchy, leading to Japan's post-war recovery and economic growth.
