Shōwa Era
The Shōwa Era in Japan lasted from 1926 to 1989, marking the reign of Emperor Hirohito. This period is significant for its dramatic changes, including Japan's transformation from a militaristic empire to a democratic nation after World War II. The era saw rapid industrial growth, urbanization, and the rise of consumer culture, which greatly influenced Japanese society.
During the Shōwa Era, Japan experienced major events such as the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 and the post-war economic miracle in the 1950s and 1960s. The era ended with the death of Emperor Hirohito, leading to the beginning of the subsequent Heisei Era.
