Italian education system
The Italian education system is divided into several stages: primary, secondary, and tertiary education. Primary education, known as scuola primaria, lasts for five years and is followed by a three-year scuola secondaria di primo grado (lower secondary school). Students then attend scuola secondaria di secondo grado (upper secondary school) for five years, where they can choose between different types of schools, including liceo, istituto tecnico, and istituto professionale.
After completing upper secondary education, students can pursue higher education at universities or other institutions. The university system in Italy offers various degree programs, including laurea (bachelor's degree) and laurea magistrale (master's degree). Education is compulsory until the age of 16, ensuring that all children receive a basic education.
