Iraqi Jews
The Iraqi Jews are a Jewish community that historically lived in Iraq, particularly in cities like Baghdad and Basra. They trace their roots back to ancient times, with a presence in the region for over 2,500 years. This community contributed significantly to the cultural and economic life of Iraq, especially during the Abbasid Caliphate.
In the mid-20th century, political changes and rising anti-Semitism led to a mass exodus of Iraqi Jews. Many emigrated to Israel, the United States, and other countries. Today, the community is much smaller, but it remains an important part of the Jewish diaspora's history.
