Iran nuclear deal
The Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was an agreement reached in 2015 between Iran and six world powers: the United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, China, and Germany. The deal aimed to limit Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions, ensuring that Iran could not develop nuclear weapons.
In 2018, the United States withdrew from the agreement, leading to increased tensions and Iran's subsequent steps to exceed the deal's nuclear limits. Efforts to revive the deal have continued, with ongoing negotiations involving the original signatories to address concerns about Iran's nuclear activities and regional influence.
