Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act
The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act was enacted in 2004 in response to the September 11 attacks. Its primary goal was to improve the coordination and effectiveness of the United States' intelligence community. The act established the position of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) to oversee and integrate the various intelligence agencies.
Additionally, the act aimed to enhance information sharing among federal, state, and local agencies to prevent future terrorist attacks. It also included provisions for improving border security and implementing measures to protect critical infrastructure, thereby strengthening national security overall.
