Indigenous Taiwanese
Indigenous Taiwanese refers to the various ethnic groups that are the original inhabitants of Taiwan. These groups have distinct languages, cultures, and traditions that differ from the Han Chinese majority. There are currently 16 officially recognized Indigenous tribes, including the Amis, Atayal, and Paiwan, each with its own unique heritage.
The Indigenous peoples of Taiwan have a rich history that predates the arrival of Han Chinese settlers in the 17th century. They traditionally relied on hunting, fishing, and agriculture for sustenance, and their social structures often emphasize communal living and respect for nature. Today, efforts are being made to preserve and promote their cultures and languages.
