Imam Zayd
Imam Zayd, also known as Zayd ibn Ali, was a prominent figure in early Islamic history, born in 695 CE. He was the great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad and a member of the Hashemite family. Zayd is best known for his role as a leader of the Zaydi sect of Shia Islam, which emphasizes the importance of social justice and active resistance against tyranny.
Zayd's life was marked by his commitment to justice and his opposition to the Umayyad caliphate. He led a rebellion in 740 CE against the Umayyad rulers, advocating for the rights of the oppressed. His legacy continues to influence Zaydi communities, particularly in Yemen, where he is revered as a martyr and a symbol of resistance.
