Ibn Taymiyyah
Ibn Taymiyyah was a prominent Islamic scholar and theologian born in 1263 in Damascus, Syria. He is best known for his works on Islamic jurisprudence, theology, and philosophy. His teachings emphasized a return to the original sources of Islam, namely the Quran and the Hadith, advocating for a purer form of the faith free from later innovations.
Throughout his life, Ibn Taymiyyah faced political and religious opposition, leading to several imprisonments. Despite this, his influence grew, and he became a key figure in the development of Salafism, a movement that seeks to emulate the practices of the early Muslim community. His writings continue to be studied and debated in the Islamic world today.
