Salafism
Salafism is a conservative branch of Islam that seeks to return to the practices of the Salaf, the early generations of Muslims, particularly the Prophet Muhammad and his companions. Salafists emphasize a strict interpretation of the Qur'an and Hadith, advocating for a lifestyle that mirrors that of these early Muslims.
There are different strands of Salafism, including quietist, political, and jihadist Salafism. Quietist Salafists focus on personal piety and religious education, while political Salafists engage in political processes. Jihadist Salafists, on the other hand, advocate for armed struggle to achieve their goals, often leading to conflict and violence.
