Hydrastis Canadensis
Hydrastis canadensis, commonly known as goldenseal, is a perennial herb native to North America. It typically grows in rich, moist woodlands and features distinctive yellow rhizomes and broad, palmate leaves. The plant produces small, white flowers in spring, which later develop into red berries.
Goldenseal has been traditionally used in herbal medicine for its potential antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. The active compound, berberine, is believed to contribute to its health benefits. However, overharvesting and habitat loss have led to concerns about its conservation status in the wild.
