Hoysala Dynasty
The Hoysala Dynasty was a prominent South Indian dynasty that ruled between the 10th and 14th centuries. They were known for their contributions to art, architecture, and culture, particularly in the region of Karnataka. The dynasty's capital was initially at Belur and later moved to Halebidu, where they built stunning temples that showcase intricate carvings and unique architectural styles.
The Hoysala rulers were patrons of Hinduism and Jainism, leading to the construction of many temples dedicated to various deities. Their most famous architectural achievements include the Chennakesava Temple in Belur and the Hoysaleswara Temple in Halebidu, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
