Hittite Religion
The Hittite religion was a polytheistic belief system practiced by the ancient Hittites, who lived in Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) from around 1600 to 1200 BCE. Their pantheon included numerous gods and goddesses, such as Teshub, the storm god, and Hannahanna, the mother goddess. Rituals and offerings were central to their worship, often conducted in temples and sacred spaces.
The Hittites also believed in the importance of maintaining harmony between the divine and human realms. They practiced divination and consulted oracles to seek guidance from the gods. Additionally, they incorporated elements from neighboring cultures, such as the Hurrians and Mesopotamians, enriching their religious practices.
