Hip Impingement
Hip impingement is a condition where the bones of the hip joint do not fit together perfectly, leading to abnormal contact during movement. This can cause pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion in the hip. It often occurs in athletes or individuals who engage in repetitive hip movements.
There are two main types of hip impingement: cam impingement, where the femoral head is misshapen, and pincer impingement, where the hip socket is overly deep. Diagnosis typically involves physical examinations and imaging tests, while treatment may include physical therapy, medication, or surgery in severe cases.
