Labral Tear
A labral tear is an injury to the cartilage that surrounds the shoulder or hip joint, known as the labrum. This cartilage helps stabilize the joint and allows for smooth movement. A tear can occur due to trauma, repetitive motion, or degeneration over time, leading to pain, instability, and reduced range of motion.
Symptoms of a labral tear may include a catching or locking sensation in the joint, pain during certain activities, and swelling. Diagnosis typically involves a physical examination and imaging tests like MRI. Treatment options range from physical therapy to surgical repair, depending on the severity of the tear.
