Gyanendra of Nepal
Gyanendra of Nepal was the last king of Nepal, reigning from 2001 until the monarchy was abolished in 2008. He was born on July 26, 1947, and became king after the tragic royal massacre in 2001, which claimed the life of his brother, King Dipendra. Gyanendra's reign was marked by political turmoil and growing demands for democracy.
During his rule, Gyanendra attempted to consolidate power and dismissed the elected government in 2005, leading to widespread protests. Eventually, the monarchy was abolished in 2008, and Nepal was declared a federal democratic republic, ending centuries of royal rule and transforming the nation’s political landscape.
