Guringai
The Guringai are an Indigenous Australian people from the northern Sydney region in New South Wales. They traditionally inhabited areas around the Hawkesbury River and the Sydney Harbour, relying on the rich natural resources for food, shelter, and cultural practices. Their language, also called Guringai, is part of the Pama-Nyungan language family.
Guringai culture is characterized by a deep connection to the land and a rich tradition of storytelling, art, and music. They practiced sustainable hunting and gathering, utilizing the diverse ecosystems of their territory. Today, efforts are ongoing to preserve and revitalize Guringai heritage and language among their descendants.
