Darug
The Darug people are an Indigenous Australian group from the region now known as New South Wales. They traditionally inhabited areas around the Sydney basin and the Blue Mountains, relying on the land for food, water, and shelter. Their culture is rich in storytelling, art, and connection to the land.
The Darug language, also called Darug, is part of the larger Pama-Nyungan language family. Efforts are ongoing to revive and preserve the language and cultural practices, as many aspects of Darug heritage were impacted by colonization. Today, the Darug community continues to advocate for recognition and rights related to their ancestral lands.
