Gudi Padwa
Gudi Padwa is a traditional festival celebrated in the Indian state of Maharashtra and by the Konkan community. It marks the beginning of the new year according to the Hindu calendar, usually falling in March or April. The festival symbolizes the arrival of spring and is associated with the harvest season. People decorate their homes with mango leaves and colorful rangoli designs, and they hoist a Gudi, which is a pole adorned with a bright cloth and a pot.
On this day, families come together to prepare special dishes, including Puran Poli and Shrikhand. Many people also visit temples to offer prayers for prosperity and happiness in the coming year. Gudi Padwa is a time for renewal, celebration, and cultural traditions, reflecting the rich heritage of the Maharashtrian community.
