Hindu New Year
The Hindu New Year, also known as Chaitra Shukla Pratipada or Gudi Padwa, marks the beginning of the lunar calendar year in many regions of India. It typically falls in March or April and is celebrated with various customs and rituals. People clean their homes, decorate with rangoli, and prepare special dishes to welcome the new year.
Different communities celebrate the Hindu New Year in unique ways. For instance, in Maharashtra, people raise a Gudi (a decorated pole) to symbolize victory and prosperity. In North India, it is celebrated as Nav Varsh and involves family gatherings and prayers for a prosperous year ahead.
