Gila Cliff Dwellings
The Gila Cliff Dwellings are ancient structures located in the Gila Wilderness of New Mexico. Built by the Mogollon people around the late 1200s, these dwellings are carved into the cliffs and consist of several rooms. They provide insight into the lives of the indigenous people who inhabited the area.
Today, the Gila Cliff Dwellings are part of the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, established to preserve and protect these historical sites. Visitors can explore the area through designated trails and learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Mogollon and their connection to the landscape.
