Giani Zail Singh
Giani Zail Singh was an Indian politician who served as the 7th President of India from 1982 to 1987. Born on May 5, 1916, in Punjab, he was a prominent member of the Indian National Congress and played a significant role in Indian politics during the post-independence era. He was known for his efforts in promoting social justice and his commitment to the Sikh community.
Before becoming President, Zail Singh held various important positions, including the Chief Minister of Punjab. His presidency was marked by significant events, including the controversial Operation Blue Star in 1984, which aimed to remove militants from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. He passed away on December 25, 2004.
