Sikh community
The Sikh community is a religious group that originated in the Punjab region of India in the 15th century. Founded by Guru Nanak, Sikhs follow the teachings of ten successive gurus, with the final guru being the Guru Granth Sahib, their holy scripture. The core beliefs of Sikhism include the oneness of God, equality of all people, and the importance of community service.
Sikhs are easily recognized by their distinct appearance, often wearing a turban and maintaining uncut hair as a symbol of their faith. The community places a strong emphasis on seva, or selfless service, and operates numerous Gurdwaras, which are places of worship and community gathering.
