Operation Blue Star
Operation Blue Star was a military operation conducted by the Indian government in June 1984. Its primary objective was to remove militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his armed supporters from the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar, Punjab. The operation aimed to restore order and security in the region, which had been experiencing rising tensions and violence.
The operation took place over several days and involved heavy fighting, resulting in significant casualties among both militants and Indian soldiers. The aftermath of Operation Blue Star led to widespread unrest in Punjab and had lasting political and social implications for India, including the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi later that year.
