German Basic Law
The German Basic Law, or Grundgesetz, is the constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany, enacted in 1949. It serves as the legal foundation for the country's democratic governance and outlines the rights and responsibilities of citizens, as well as the structure of government. The Basic Law emphasizes the protection of human dignity and fundamental rights, establishing a framework for a parliamentary democracy.
The Basic Law was initially intended as a temporary measure, but it has remained in effect due to its successful promotion of stability and democracy. It includes provisions for the separation of powers among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, ensuring a system of checks and balances.
