Geography of the United Kingdom
The United Kingdom (UK) is made up of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It is located off the northwestern coast of mainland Europe and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the Irish Sea, and the English Channel. The UK features diverse landscapes, including rolling hills, mountains, and coastal areas.
The largest country, England, contains the capital city, London, which is a major cultural and economic center. Scotland is known for its rugged highlands and numerous lakes, while Wales is famous for its mountainous terrain and beautiful coastlines. Northern Ireland features lush countryside and the iconic Giant's Causeway.
