Geography of Japan
Japan is an island nation located in East Asia, consisting of four main islands: Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku. It is situated in the Pacific Ocean, east of the Korean Peninsula and China. The country is known for its mountainous terrain, with the Japanese Alps and numerous volcanoes, including Mount Fuji, the highest peak.
The climate in Japan varies from region to region, influenced by its geography. Northern areas like Hokkaido experience cold winters, while southern regions such as Okinawa have a subtropical climate. Japan is also prone to natural disasters, including earthquakes and typhoons, due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
