Islands of Japan
Japan is an archipelago consisting of over 6,800 islands, with the four largest being Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku. These main islands are home to the majority of the country's population and major cities, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. Each island has its unique geography, culture, and climate.
The smaller islands, such as Okinawa and the Nansei Islands, offer diverse ecosystems and rich traditions. Japan's islands are surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan, and the East China Sea, contributing to the country's maritime culture and economy.
