François de Salignac de la Mothe-Fénelon
François de Salignac de la Mothe-Fénelon, commonly known as Fénelon, was a French theologian and writer born in 1651. He is best known for his work as a spiritual advisor and his role as the tutor to the Duke of Burgundy, the grandson of King Louis XIV. Fénelon’s teachings emphasized the importance of inner spirituality and moral integrity.
Fénelon is also famous for his literary contributions, particularly the novel Télémaque, which explores themes of education and governance. His ideas influenced both religious thought and literature in France, making him a significant figure in the French Enlightenment. He passed away in 1715.
