Formosan peoples
The Formosan peoples are the indigenous inhabitants of Taiwan, known for their rich cultural heritage and diverse languages. They are believed to have settled in the region thousands of years ago, developing unique traditions, social structures, and lifestyles that vary among different tribes.
There are approximately 16 officially recognized indigenous groups in Taiwan, each with its own distinct customs and languages. The Formosan peoples have faced challenges due to modernization and external influences, but efforts are ongoing to preserve their cultural identity and promote their rights within the broader Taiwanese society.
