Flower Parts
Flowers are made up of several important parts, each serving a specific function. The main parts include the petals, which attract pollinators with their colors and scents, and the sepals, which protect the flower bud before it blooms. The stamens are the male reproductive parts, consisting of the anther that produces pollen and the filament that supports it. The pistil is the female reproductive part, made up of the stigma, style, and ovary.
Pollination occurs when pollen from the anther reaches the stigma, leading to fertilization. The ovary then develops into a fruit, containing seeds that can grow into new plants. Understanding these parts helps us appreciate the role of flowers in the plant life cycle and their importance in ecosystems.
