First Spanish Republic
The First Spanish Republic was established in 1873 after the abdication of King Amadeo I. It marked a significant shift from monarchy to a republican form of government in Spain. The republic faced numerous challenges, including political instability, regional uprisings, and economic difficulties, leading to a fragmented political landscape.
Despite its aspirations for democratic governance, the First Spanish Republic lasted only until 1874, when it was dissolved following a military coup led by General Pavía. This period is often remembered for its short-lived nature and the struggles that ultimately paved the way for the restoration of the monarchy in Spain.
