Enclave
An "enclave" is a distinct area or territory that is completely surrounded by another territory. This can refer to a region, community, or even a group of people that is geographically isolated from the larger area around it. Enclaves can exist for various reasons, including cultural, political, or historical factors.
One well-known example of an enclave is Vatican City, which is an independent city-state entirely surrounded by Rome, Italy. Enclaves can also be found in other contexts, such as neighborhoods within a city that have a unique identity or demographic, often leading to a sense of community among residents.
